Translation of Paris Hilton's video:  "Don't do that again, Little Johnny"

Vielen Dank dass Sie Deutschland, für die große begrüßen zu Barack Obama in Berlin!

I do a considerable amount of work on computers for this web station, and will eventually have to set up a partnership with a system administrator to handle many technical details. The situation with the city network administrator in San Francisco, Terry Childs, is quite interesting, and far more complex than most can understand.

In this computerized age I think it is important that people, in general, begin to understand some of the cultural issues that surround technical engineers. I have found similar cultural elements with recording engineers, Silicon Valley network architects, and even many lower-level server administrators, when they are required to answer to 'non-technical' managers. This article by PC World gives some considerable insight into what is happening in the minds of many technical perfectionists.

We are up and pumping with our full program schedule now. Currently, we are running last weeks playlist, but will get the new stuff up quickly. We have about 12 new label releases to add, as well as 4 or 5 unbelievable unsigned acts! We want to thank our great new stream company, and their fantastic system admins, for being so attentive in the set up of our particular configuration requirements.

(July 12, 2008)

We are currently configuring our new stream on this beautiful sunny Saturday (weep!), and will have the stream available on the site by Monday evening (est). If you find the stream on a directory, please note that until it is available on the Melted site we will only loop a few songs while we are working. Cheers!

(July 6, 2008)

We apologize for halting the music. We are working to migrate to a new stream server system, and will be back to melt the heaviest of heavy metal within the next few days. Cheers!

(July 5, 2008)

Overnight we had some file data loss in the stream server system. This may cause temporary stoppages in the station today, and possibly a few repeated station IDs. We should have the file data reloaded by early evening.

On this day I want to wish all Americans, whether natural born citizens or immigrant citizens, a great Forth Of July. Just remember this- America will never be destroyed by outside elements. It can only be destroyed by cutting the wrong wires from within. Think about that for just a moment, then go and party your f-ckin' head off this weekend!

Currently, I am still in the Seattle area, and I must say that I am impressed with the people here. It is easy to see how the cultural Grunge element of the rock music segment was created here, and the experience continues to expand my (hungry) mind.

One notable experience was a 'Jimi Hendrix Experience'. I took an afternoon to visit his grave in Renton (so what's he doing out there?!). I spent over an hour leaning up against the rail of the walk-up ramp, and had a deep spiritual conversation with him. It was an important event for me, as he created a magical moment in time that changed my perception of myself, and of rock music in general. I decided to contact 'The Jimi Hendrix Foundation' (also in Renton) to offer my fundraising, brand development, and organizational skills to the firm. I was openly welcomed by the President of this nonprofit charitable organization, and learned many additional details surrounding the affairs of the Hendrix estate. Though we were not able to agree on the terms of my participation and parted ways, I found that the foundation 'could' easily become a powerful force for good through rock music.

I must also add that I am saddened by the (well-known) fact that Jimi was abused before and during his success, but also the unfortunate fact that he continues to be abused in death (this 'opinion' in no way refers to the foundation). But, it brings great comfort to me that his music and legacy are available for all to hear and see, and that he remains the most innovative rock guitarist in all of the world's history.

All-righty-now. So how did Lil Wayne sell over 1 million units within the first week of his new release, in the infamous 'dying' music industry? That is a very simple answer. The industry isn't dying. The entire recording, production, and distribution process was completely overseen by the relentless drive of Lil Wayne himself. He delivered a custom made, pure, product to his core following without allowing business people to get in his way. This could only have been done by giving Lil Wayne unprecedented oversight power across the entire process. In short, educate the artist to sensible business practices, then allow the artist to utilize all resources to deliver what his core fan-base really wants, within a narrow demographic. All that was needed was to remove the non-artistic record executive's power trip over the artist.

Just a quick note to pay respects to Sydney Pollack, who died on May 26, 2008, from cancer. He was one of the great ones, and I hope you all will take the time to see the movies he has directed, and those in which he has played rolls. You can find more information at: IMDB.

Hey everybody, sorry for the site outage today. We aren't dead-beats (at least not 'this' month!), it's just that we are traveling and have missed some of the smaller stuff. Also, this web site host service is very inexpensive and has some normal daily down time. That said, just remember that the melted myspace page is always there.

(May 19, 2008)

Our server has been down for the past several hours, but should be back up sometime in the early evening (eastern standard time).

(May 2, 2008)

We are currently traveling to Seattle, the last city that we have to shore up on venue connections for upcoming show promotion projects. Our apologies for late updates on the site (the playlist will remain pretty current). Seattle is the last city that we have to do so, and we will hopefully engage in a number of smaller to mid-size metal fests in the states (ya hear that, sponsors??). So all you kick-ass Seattle acts, look us up!

Melted Metal made a recent comment entry (comment #246 at the link below) on one of many TorrentFreak blogs in response to an interview with Biohazard bassist, Evan Seinfeld. My first question is why is Seinfeld complaining about BitTorrents on TorrentFreak?!  That is likened to a cornered chicken complaining to a mob of wild wolves! More than that, because of his belligerent stance within the very 'BitTorrent Den Of Thieves', he is inviting populist-hacker-fanatics from across the globe to target him, and they will. In any case, Melted Metal made a statement directed at 'educating' not (bio)degrading.   (Click here and see comment #246)

Just a few plugs for my recent life's experiences. First, if you are planning to fly domestically in the United States, you must fly JetBlue. I only fly JetBlue, and in the 8 years I have been flying with them, I have 'never' had a bad flight (this is 'not' a paid plug). Also, today is my half-brother's birthday. Ronnie was 10 years older than me, and a great guy. But he died in November 2005 from throat cancer. Think about that for just a moment. Yes, he was a heavy smoker. So, I will only say this once, don't smoke.

(April 3, 2008)

Between 2:30 pm/est and 3:00 pm/est today, our ShoutCast stream when down. We are not sure why, but our server socket connections with ShoutCast have been interrupted. We should be back up by 4:00 pm/est. Thanks for the patience!

(March 31, 2008)

We are continuing to implement our new programming, and you can hear the strong changes in every hour. I will be traveling over the next few weeks, but updates will remain highly active. Soon we will have a separate overnight program that will focus specifically on those of you who simply don't sleep (zzz!).

(March 26, 2008)

We have been working on a number of newer programming techniques. Based on your listener stats we think we have found the right combination. Expect to hear lots of revolving cuts from favorites like Lamb Of God, Pantera, Metallica, and Godsmack, with a heavy influx of unsigned metal acts that 'sound signed' (ya hear that you labels?). We are also very interested in lots of international indie label relationships for airplay of their acts (spread the word!).

(March 24, 2008)

Many of you have emailed us about stagnant site and stream content. Ok, we stand guilty of getting side-tracked with other station related issues. We got a lot done over the weekend, and are still working hard updating both the site and playlists. From now on we will stay focused on what's important, great head-bangin' metal bands.

(March 21, 2008)

Happy first day of Spring! I have been hearing snarls about late music updates. Sorry 'bout that. We will get the playlist updated today with a lot of new music, especially heavy updates to be made over the weekend. You can view the new band additions on the 'adds' page once the new playlist is in rotation. Also, we have a huge backlog of unsigned acts to review (hundreds), but we will listen to all of them in the next 5 to 10 days.

(March 20, 2008)

The stream skipping issue seems resolved, and we will watch it for the next few days. Also, we are redesigning this site via moderate daily changes. When finished it will be completely different. We just can't take the lump time to redesign it all at once. Another item is that we have not had ad-creatives on the site until now (just paying from my pocket, 'cough!'). In the next few days a media kit page with initial sponsor and band promotion packages will be available. After that we will begin a more larger scale marketing program to bring more listeners in from Japan, Germany, and the United States.

(March 19, 2008)

We've been having problems with skipping in our stream every few hours, due to some recent changes made to our central ShoutCast account. That should smooth out in the next couple of days. Right now we are only running ShoutCast to keep expenses down, but will add the Windows Media Player option soon. If you want to use Windows Media Player now, you can stream us from Germany's 'Surf Musik' at this location: [ Click Here ]. Melted Stream Plays Immediately In New Page.

(March 18, 2008)

Maybe this isn't such a great idea, huh? Those people who know me well will tell you that I have a healthy temper. Ya know, working on computers all day etc,. But, every few days I seem to want to let my listeners know a few things. Usually something to do with stream-host problems, playlist stuff, or a bit about a band in rotation. Soon, there will be a prompt at the bottom of the page so you can write back and tell me what an a-hole I am, but that you still love me (cough!).

In any case, check this page from time to time to see what's on my mind. Hopefully I won't turn this page into my own little pissy-fit-rant-in (you'd like that, huh?). Hey what's metal if you can't blow off some of the flames these bands inspire in ya, huh?? Hey, everyone has something to rant about, so I'll be careful to keep it all about great metal bands, and not my peeves. Talk soon!

Cheers!
Bill
