[ Bill Aucoin, x-KISS Manager, Passes Away On June 28th

I just want to note here on Melted Metal that Bill Aucoin, a family friend of mine since I was 11 years old, passed away on June 28, 2010, due to complications from Prostate Cancer. I never saw Bill as a music industry mogul, but as a caring uncle. Bill and my father went to college together, and both worked at the ABC television network afterward. My father worked at ABC in San Francisco until 1984, but Aucoin switched gears and got into the music industry.
Emphatically stated, Bill Aucoin was a very unique man in the high-end music arena. He loved people in general, and was always willing to help those who dealt honestly with him. But, if you lied, or played a one-way-win game, he would crush you. I'm going to miss him a lot, not because of his accomplishments, but because of his smile and reassurances that my good-will would always carry me in the right direction. While he was on this earth I never felt that I was far from home. R.I.P. Mr. Aucoin.

Stream Jocks To Come Online Soon

We have been running without Stream Jocks for a number of reasons, but that will change soon. We have some incredible Stream Jock talent lined up that will crack heads on Melted Metal, and on other rock stations we're building. Stuff like incredible band interviews, live festival coverage, and kick-ass one-hour metal shows. Yeah, I'm gonna keep these jocks pretty f'ing busy! So, for the next few weeks sit tight and enjoy the music. Soon we'll have our Jocks up, Droid and iPhone apps, and song data that is easily accessible. Thanks for hanging in there with us b-cuz it's about to get a lot hotter on Melted Metal!

We finally have the direct support of a great group of forward looking indie-labels and unsigned acts! The metal bands we are about to play are no less than mind-boggling, and we couldn't be more excited to be coming back! Is getting an underground web radio station running smoothly easy?? Hell No, and sometimes throwing in the towel seems like the best route. But when that music comes blasting through those headphones all bets are off! It's all about the music, and that's what this web radio station is about!

It recently came to our attention that Comcast has blocked MeltedMetal.com in several markets. At first, when listeners contacted us, we thought the blocks were by specific companies. But after a little research we realized that Comcast has been the cable system on all cases. If you cannot get to MeltedMetal.com you can test whether we are down for everybody, or just for you, here:

As we start our new years ramp-up in metal web radio we want to wish all of our listeners a great 2010. We are based in Los Angeles, and at the time of this writing the weather is sunny, with temps at about 65 to 70 degrees. People have asked us why we moved from New York City to Los Angeles. Google Makes This Metal Station Possible

We want to give a heads-up to the great folks over at Google who have done so much for Melted Metal. Actually, they don't know it, they just keep developing all of these great applications that allow us to function with this 'unusual business model' we are developing. We use Google Voice, Analytics, Trends, Google Docs, Google Wave, and plan to use their entire Google Apps service once we're completely ramped. The reason I'm mentioning this is simply because they've made such a profound impact on the process activities of this web station, and they totally deserve the kudos. Hey, the other guys think that if you can't beat down innovation then you just gotta kill it. They're gonna have a tough time fighting Google.
